Who are Taylor / Wilson?
Taylor / Wilson is a family owned, award winning and client focussed firm of architects based in Falkirk. We work across the length and breadth of Scotland and will consider projects further afield where a Client has an interesting and challenging brief. Our goal is to find projects that present interesting opportunities and to work with people who share common values.
Where we are best.
Taylor / Wilson are most at home working with private clients, property developers, local businesses and heritage trusts.
We love working with challenging sites, listed buildings and properties set within Conservation Areas. We find creativity and inspiration in strict planning constraints, requirement for high quality design and we excite in creating considered relationships between traditional craft and contemporary design. We are RIAS Conservation Accredited Architects.
The climate emergency.
Architects have a significant role to play in resolving the climate emergency. It is estimated that anywhere between 25-40% of greenhouse gas emissions arise from the built environment.
Taylor / Wilson promote a fabric first approach to energy performance, encouraging investment in building fabric to minimise consumption. Thereafter, low and zero carbon technologies are now mandatory on new build homes and gas boilers can no longer be installed. For the past 10 years, Taylor / Wilson have been designing both new build and refurbishments which incorporate the full spectrum of renewable technologies. We will ensure that your energy strategy is designed for you.
Why Taylor / Wilson?
Our Clients tell us they employ us because we are polite and humble, friendly and efficient. And because we design simple, modern, homes and places that improve their lives.
Our built heritage.
Taylor / Wilson are passionate about traditional buildings and the historic environment. We believe in the circular economy and promote conservation and reuse.
Reuse of existing built form is crucial in resolution of the climate emergency and in preserving Scotland’s distinctive cultural heritage. On average the embodied carbon associated with a new building is twice that of a deep retrofit.
